Snowkiting in Norway is one of the most underrated winter adventures out there. In this video, we’re exploring huge white fields, frozen lakes and mountain landscapes while combining skiing or snowboarding with the power of a kite. From choosing the right kite sizes to finding the perfect snowkite spots around Haugastøl, this is what a real snowkite day in Norway looks like. Which Kites did we use? We normally ride a 9 or 12 meter kite, but depending on the wind we also use smaller kites like a 6 for strong wind days and bigger kites like a 15 for low wind sessions. With the right snow gear, harness, skis or snowboard, and just a base layer underneath, snowkiting quickly becomes an intense and surprisingly warm winter sport. You’ll see how we set up the kite on the snow, launch it, cruise across massive open fields, ride hills up and down, and enjoy the freedom that snowkiting in Norway offers. Location & Spots Our base for this trip was Haugastøl, from where we explored different snowkite spots in the Norwegian mountains. By checking wind forecasts, webcams and local conditions, we were able to ride empty locations with almost no people around - especially early in the mornings. If you’re into winter sports, adventure travel or looking for something new to try in the snow, make sure to like, comment and subscribe.
