It was edited by hand on Don Pennebakers Steenbeck. There are 162 cuts made with a razor blade by Nile. When I delivered the video to Sony they said, "Didn't we tell you? We dropped you last week - don't feel too bad, we dropped Gladys Knight at the same meeting." I said, "but what about my video?" They said, "If you don't have a major label you can't get your video on MTV." I was dropped because I refused to have sex with a VP at Sony. He was fired a month later, and a month after that Walter Yetnickov, a coke and sex addict was fired. I managed to get this video played on a few local stations and still get requests for it from people who say "They had their first orgasm watching Trust Me". I believe that the cutting style was very influential and that even though it was only seen in a few festivals and on underground TV - Nile basically invented the MTV style right there - night after night - unpaid - working on Penny's steenbeck where Monteray Pop and Don't Look Back were cut. The music was produced by Paul Jabara. They made me rewrite the second verse which was originally about " I wander on a journey through loves days; an endless winding maze; and still the music plays...." They said that was too hard for people to understand." — Phoebe Legere "A labor of love; this multi-location (incl, the East Village, upper west side rooftop, Mexico, and the Berkshires) was about 98% shot in film rattling through my 16mm Beaulieu. I didn't own sync sound equip, and had to cut every couple of seconds or we'd run out of sync. "Teddy Foot Beach Grov" (still to come, a fave of Nick Zedd's) uses extended scenes from some of this footage. The b/w beach foot is from Zijuateneijo, Mexico, shot on the first day I met the great Phoebe. In fact, I fell in love with her (who wouldn't?!?) through the lens of a camera. " — Nile Southern I do NOT own the rights of the music neither of the picture. If Youtube wants me to remove the video I'll do it ...
