November 2022 UPDATE: this wash is now gone forever. The gas station was totally renovated and torn down and a new Seasons C-Store opened up in its place. The car wash is now completely gone. Thanks to the manager for letting me do this! Here is another abandoned Car Wash at a Shell Gas station. This is at the Waverly Oaks Shell station and if you don’t know what it has, it has a COMPLETELY ORIGINAL 1980’s/1990’s Belanger Mini tunnel! This one closed down in January 2018 and it has been being used for storage ever since. Last time I was here (September 2018), there was barely anything inside the wash bay besides a few crates and water bottles. Now it is completely filled with crates, shelves, water bottles, racks and other random things. Unlike the 2 abandoned washes in Nashua, this one STILL HAS MOST of the equipment inside of it! It hasn’t been ripped out whatsoever. Instead, it is sitting inside, rotting away, being cramped inside with a bunch of random stuff. As for the actual equipment itself, it is very old and rusty and looks like it’ll fall apart soon. One of the rocker panel brushes was held with zip ties and the cloth on the brushes are very dirty. As for the dryers, there was definitely an AirStream dryer at one point, but it had the Triangle shaped drop down nozzle removed and the dryer switched in the other direction. The old SideKick dryers are also still intact, even with all of the random stuff in between them. One of tubes connecting to one of the nozzles was in a odd position, but maybe the employees did that so they can fit some more stuff inside the bay? I also got to see the old chemical room and I can confirm that this wash used Simoniz chemicals, as I saw a bin that has the old Simoniz logo on it. Along side the chemical room was extra cloth pieces for the wraps which I was confused about. Maybe they ordered some extra cloth before the shut this wash down? Who knows! Unfortunately, this wash might not be here longer as the manager said they COULD be demolishing this car wash to make room for a Seasons Corner Market, just like the ones in Attleboro and North Attleboro. But it probably won’t be for a while as it costs a lot of money and takes a lot of time. I hope you all enjoy!
