Raising or hoisting a truss solo with a winch

This could be option number 9 or whatever number comes to mind. I raised the trusses on the house a few years ago (watch that one in my other videos) by placing 3 sets of 2x4's diagonally at the front of the house and pulled them up with my Polaris 800 from the rear with some rope and did not feel compelled to do that on this garage because I don't have the clear space to drive behind it, as well I would have to have a platform to work the rest down the middle...too much work and with this tower...I have what I need to do the upper connections pretty easily. I decided to use the scaffold I bought the other year to work on my dormer and gables and put them to use. I purchased a 2 speed winch with 2 ratios...I think it is a 4:1 and 12:1. I am running this at 4:1 with a Milwaukee magnum drill which is a pretty stout/torque drill power wise. I have a pulley/snatch block at the top simply wired to the scaffold with some ceiling hanger wire...about 3 wraps...the stuff is strong. I made up a spreader and using scrap threaded rod, washers and bolts....and a anchor bolt when I ran out of the threaded rod. The base for the winch is attached to the scaffold with duct strap kind of like conduit straps, but I have 3 of them wrapped and screwed to the 2x10 scrap and another at the wedge block that gives me the pitch I was looking for to aim up to the snatch block. I went slow as this was the first test run I made doing this video...so if it was a failure, I would not have posted it. Worked like a champ...I spent the rest of the day resetting my plank boards on the scaffold and wiring them to the scaffold leaving the center plank out...that way the planks wont slide if I get on them, setting this truss where it actually goes on the end and getting it braced/plumbed for tomorrow's lifts. I laid out the top plate for tomorrow and I'll be using a 2nd guy this time to winch while I work off a 6 foot baker placing them on 2'0" centers and doing some temporary bridging to keep them plumb. I have a box of Simpson bridges I never used on the house so I will use them up here on this garage rather than take up space in the cargo container I have down the road a bit in the woods. I've seen a many folks lifting with cranes, stick booms, forks, flipping them up with prop sticks and so on...I figured with the scaffold...it would be kind of cool to lift roll into place and drop as well show yet another option that someone may be able to use if they have a slab and access to a rolling tower of scaffold. When I was making this video, I still had 1 interior brace in my way and my cut table I had to remove otherwise I could have placed this exactly where I wanted..I did that after the video so I could conclude setting this in the correct place...this was just a mock up for tomorrow..Just wanted to show how you can lift a truss solo and move it into place....This might work for some scenarios...but not all. It's about improvising and making things work with what you have....I had a great time outside of my broken ankle giving me a reminder all day...I look forward to setting these tomorrow, this was quite fun shooting this 131 pounder up with a drill. Hope someone finds this useful. The garage is on top of a 18' x 30' monolithic slab 6 inches thick with a 1'0" wide honch at bottom. The walls are 9' 7 & 1/2" with the sheathing running up beyond and breaking on the truss, leaving 1" to pick up with the rest going up on the gables. The leftmost as this video is showing will be stick framed with 2x 10 rafters on a 5/12 pitch connecting up with t the 12/12 this is. Room in truss with 7' 8" between chords and 10' in width. 12' garage door. The left will be like a car port which has a 7'6 x 7'0" width R.O. for a roll up door for driving the UTV out of or pulling a grill outside during the winter to cook on...I'll probably only park inside during the winter...I prefer outside if possible to park. Still a ways to finish the house, but I have so much stuff I need this garage to empty out the house so I can proceed with finish flooring and trim and not have to move tools and game boxes all around constantly... This will allow me to pick up and finish the house as I will have a place now for all the gear and prep the trim/prime-paint.
