Come wander with us as we get a little lost in the hidden alleyways and local sois of Bangkok. We step away from the noise and rush, leaving the busy main roads behind to discover a softer, slower side of the city. This isn’t the Bangkok of neon lights and traffic jams — it’s the quiet corners where greenery spills into narrow lanes, colourful street art fades gently on old walls, and everyday life unfolds at its own unhurried pace. As we explore, we pass humble street food stalls sending delicious aromas into the air, cozy neighbourhood coffee shops tucked between homes, curious cats lounging in the shade, and the occasional barking dog reminding us that this is real life in Thailand’s capital. There’s no strict plan — just walking, wandering, and letting the small details guide us. If you love mindful travel, ambient city sounds, and discovering places beyond the tourist path, this walk is for you. Slow down, breathe in the atmosphere, and experience the hidden rhythms of Bangkok with us. 📆 31st May 2025 📌 Bangkok, Thailand🎬 Filmed with DJI Action 5 🔔 If you've enjoyed this Virtual Bangkok Walk, please consider subscribing to our channel, and help us to Grow on YouTube 🌞 Thank you kindly, Toni & Tine. 🌍 Bangkok’s history began as a small riverside trading post along the Chao Phraya River during the Ayutthaya Kingdom (1351–1767). Known then as 'Bang Makok', meaning “place of olive plums,” the area was made up of canals, orchards, and small communities that relied on waterways for transport and trade. Its strategic location helped it grow in importance as merchants from China, India, and Europe passed through Siam. In 1767, after the fall of Ayutthaya to Burmese forces, King Taksin established a new capital at 'Thonburi', on the west bank of the river. A few years later, in 1782, King Rama I moved the capital across the river and founded 'Rattanakosin', marking the birth of modern Bangkok as the capital of Siam (Thailand). Grand landmarks such as the 'Grand Palace' and 'Wat Phra Kaew' were built, shaping the city’s cultural and spiritual identity. Over the 19th and 20th centuries, Bangkok transformed rapidly—from a city of canals often called the “Venice of the East” into a modern metropolis. While roads, skyscrapers, and railways reshaped the skyline, pockets of old Bangkok remain. Hidden sois, temples, and canal-side communities still reflect the city’s deep history, blending tradition and modern life in a way unique to Bangkok. ⚠️ Our videos are copyrighted material owned by the channel DaisyRoutes.
