In this video, How to Set Up a Grow Room - Grow Healthy Pesticide Free Food in Your Home, home renovation brothers Dave and Rich and Dave's son, Caleb show you everything that's involved to growing vegetables at your home. We went into a huge grocery store last week and the shelves were almost completely empty. There's never been a better time to make sure you and your family have a food source no matter what happens in the future! A not just a food source, a pesticide free food source! To do that, set up a grow room. We are recommending that you grow microgreens, which are baby vegetables. Scientific research shows that they are 4 to 40% more nutritious than the adult vegetables!!! It is not a time to panic, it is a time to prepare. Be safe, grow healthy food! It is best to put your grow room in a place that has a door and a window. That way you can control the temperature and humidity. We are Amazon Affiliates. We receive a small commission from qualified purchases. Below is a list of items required for a grow room: 36" x 72" x 24" 5 Tier Shelving: https://amzn.to/2XszgxC Sunblaster T5 HO 36" LED Lights: https://amzn.to/2xnp0vJ Lasko 18" Pedestal Fan: https://amzn.to/3cbKE4S Hisense Dehumidifier: https://amzn.to/2xmhlxU Acurite Thermometer: https://amzn.to/3b3j6Pd 24" Zip Ties, 50 quantity: https://amzn.to/2Xu9kBM 10" x 10" planting trays with holes https://amzn.to/3a7RdEs 10" x 20" planting trays with no holes https://amzn.to/2wwY901 First, set up your shelving. Then attach your lights to your shelving with zip ties. If you put the zip tie together upside down, it will not lock, it will slide. That will enable you to adjust your lights up or down as your plants grow. Set up your fan. Middle setting is usually correct. Set up your dehumidifier. Ideal humidity is 38%. Set up your thermometer. 70 degrees is ideal. Purchase trays. You will need some with drain holes and some without drain holes. These come in 10 x 10 or 10 x 20. We like to use the 10 x 10 trays to put our soil into. We then put two 10 x 10 trays into one 10 x 20 tray that will hold the water when bottom watering. Put two 10 x 10 trays with holes into one 10 x 20 tray without holes. Put 1 1/4 cups of organic soil into both of the 10 x 10 trays. Water the soil with a spray bottle. Plant your seed. Note: Each microgreen has its own unique planting directions. Watch YouTube videos for instructions for each type of seed that you want to plant. Water everything again with the spray bottle. Place a piece of untreated wood on top of your soil in each 10 x 10 tray. Cut the wood just short of 10 x 10. Place small pavers on top of the pieces of wood so the seed will go into the soil and the roots will grow strong. You can stack up to 3 microgreen 10 x 10s on top of each other. Only put the pavers on the top tray. Cover the 10 x 10 trays with one 10 x 20 tray to block out the light. Each morning and evening uncover the trays. Water with a spray bottle about 30 squirts on a medium setting to each tray. You are trying to get the soil damp, not watery. After about 3 days your seeds will germinate, which means they begin growing stalks and leaves. At this time remove the covers, water, and just let them set out for the night, but don't put under the lights yet. The next morning put them under your lights on your shelves. Each microgreen grows at a different rate, from 6 days to 28 days. When the micros are at the appropriate length, cut with a sharp knife or scissors. Add them to salads, sandwiches, pasta, eggs, or just about anything. Enjoy!!! EVERY MICROGREEN HAS THEIR OWN PARTICULAR WAY THAT IT NEEDS TO BE PLANTED! Some get covered with soil, some are uncovered. Some need to be soaked for 6 hours, others don't.
