The NBA gave us absolute chaos when nobody expected it. And we saw some spectacular moves as well. So, let’s start in Houston, where the Rockets were hosting the shattered Clippers, who I thought had nothing to look for against Sengun, KD and company. But, Ivica Zubac wasn’t gonna agree with me because…Big Zu was winning the big man battle against Alpi in the 1st half, and with 14 points on 6 of 7 from the field, led the visitors to a surprising 3 point lead. And he only ramped up his production in the 2nd half, attacking the rim at all times, without missing a single shot. The Clippers held a little 2 point lead at the start of the final period, but then, with KD and Alpi both on the bench, the Rockets said enough is enough. Amen Thompson along with the 2nd unit turned defense into offense, and in a 2 minute span managed to go on an electric 12 to 2 run, building an 8 point lead. However, Zubac and Kawhi would respond quickly, to get things even before entering the clutch. Sengun couldn’t stop Leonard’s dunk, but on the other end, he couldn’t be stopped either. Alpi puts Zubac into a blender to give Houston a 5 point lead. And he didn’t let Zu get the easy dunk on this possession, fouling him hard and sending him to the line. But Ivica stayed calm, and with his 30th point of the night, narrowed the gap to 3 points. So, with time winding down, we have the same situation as before, 2 centers up top going mano i mano. Sengun misses this time and the Clippers have a chance to tie the game. Of course the beard is gonna knock down a wide open shot like that. So, with the entire arena on its feet, it’s winning time now. Oh my goodness, Alpi misses not 1, not 2, but 3 - point blank tip ins, before Amen comes up with the and-1 at the end. And he ices the free throw, taking back the 3 point lead for his team. Out of the timeout, Harden throws it down to Zubac hoping to get the and-1, but Smith fouls him before he could have a chance, so now Big Zu will have to earn the deuce. He hits the 1st one, but watch closely what happens next… Jabari secures the rebound but elbows Kris Dunn and gets called for an offensive foul, giving the visitors a guilt free pass. Kawhi Leonard ruins the 2nd chance with an offensive foul of his own, and now the Rockets can seal the win on the foul line if Aaron Holiday knocks down both free throws. But for the drama to continue, he misses the 1st, to keep the Clippers hoping. And then, all the chaos ends in the most absurd way possible…One of the most experienced guys on the court commits a rookie mistake to throw the game down the drain. This summarizes their season perfectly so far. Before the start, everyone was projecting the Clippers as a top 6 team in the west, but just 2 months in, the oldest squad in the league is standing 2nd to last, with a catastrophic 6 and 19 record. Speaking of that, the Pelicans are by far the worst team in the league, with only 3 wins and 22 losses, before they met the Blazers last night. But with the returning of Jordan Poole in the lineup, they looked different. #nba #houstonrockets #kevindurant
