Hello and welcome, in this weeks woodworking video I will be making a carved pumpkin lidded box / hollow form for Halloween using oak wood and a woodturning lathe. I shaped and hollowed the piece before marking out sections to carve with a file and orbital sander. Then it was remounted using a jam chuck to flatten the foot before applying an ebonising solution. Originally I didn't want to have a foot on the pumpkin but due to hollowing deeper than planned there was less material to play with. The piece was then sanded back leaving the darker areas in the grooves and finally finished in Danish oil. As always, thanks for watching!
