This school’s father was Hayashizaki Jinsuke Shigenobu, but it is Hayashi Rokudayu Morimasa who brought it to Tosa while mixing it to some Iai from Omori Ryu. At the end of the Shogunate, a school named Chidokan was opened in the Tosa Clan to practice those martial arts exclusively. However, master Shimomura Moichi, Shihan of the same school, continued to teach it up to the Meiji Restoration. In 1868, while Takamatsu Seido left for the front of the Boshin War, Hosokawa Yoshimasa was awarded the Menkyo Kaiden (initiation certificate) of Muso Shinden Eishin Ryu from Shimomura Moichi. In 1923, the disciple Ueda Heitaro received the Meikyo Kaiden himself from Hosokawa Yoshimasa. It’s this tradition that is continued nowadays by this school. Please note that for this school in particular, despite the writing “Batto Heiho” in Kanji, the pronunciation of the name exceptionally is “Iai Heiho”. -- CREDITS -- Footage by Seido Co., Ltd. https://www.seidoshop.com (en) https://www.seidoshop.jp (jp) https://www.seidoshop.com/blogs/the-s...
