Rockhounding Tips for Lake Pleasant: Gear Up: Bring a sturdy rock hammer, chisels, a bucket and gloves for collecting thundereggs and breaking open geodes. Stay Cool: Pack plenty of water, sunscreen, and a wide-brimmed hat for protection in the desert heat. Know the Land: Study maps of the area to locate the best spots for finding thundereggs and geodes. Make sure you are on public land (BLM) and not trespassing! Take a high-clearance or four-wheel-drive vehicle and drive carefully and cautiously. The roads are rough and there are reckless ATV drivers in the vicinity. Weekends are not the best choice if you want to avoid offroad activity and a lot of dust.
