Join us on a special road trip across Oregon, from the Cascade Mountains to our hiking trail in the Owyhee Canyonlands, with many miles of Oregon's majestic high desert and small towns in between. Don't miss our stop in the village of Juntura and its 92-year-old Oasis Café in the center of town. You'll love the lady in charge, Rachel, our tour guide/historian and server. Departing Eugene in the early morning, we drove up the McKenzie River, stopped just east of the Cascades for coffee at Sunriver's Brewed Awakenings, and then continued east on US Route 20, taking in beautiful scenery and small towns along the way. Our long drive ended at Lake Owyhee State Park in far Eastern Oregon with a late afternoon hike on the first - or last, depending on your perspective - segment of the enchanting Oregon Desert Trail (ODT). Check out the following day's adventure on this road trip, even more remote and spectacular, a drive and hike through Leslie Gulch, also in the Owyhee Canyonlands.
