#vox #voxamps #sadlervaden #strymon #mxrpedals #guitarcenter #guitartone Sadler Vaden—studio guitarist, songwriter, producer and Grammy-winning member of Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit—shares some of his techniques for getting great guitar tone in the recording studio. Vaden’s tips work marvelously whether you create in a professional or home studio, and they can also help you upgrade your live guitar sound. “An excellent place to start for any kind of song is with a clean tone that’s right on the edge of breakup,” counsels Vaden. “It’s a fantastic baseline rhythm-guitar sound, because you can play picking parts or big power chords. As far as effects for solos and riffs, I start with a whole lot of nothing. I like a dry sound when I’m soloing. If I do use effects, I usually start with reverb or a delay—either a long delay that swims around in the background, or a short slapback to get a doubled sound. “When crafting sounds, it’s important to think about the things you have and how to use them to make great tones. Consider the control knobs on your guitar, your pickups and your amp. For example, just one amp and four different guitars can produce loads of sounds. Finally, always remember to just have fun and explore.” Check out Sadler's demo of the VOX AC30 Hand-Wired: • NEW VOX AC30 Hand-Wired | Demo and Overvie...
