MAKING A DIFFERENCE: Deer Lodge park being created in teen's memory

In April 2022, the Deer Lodge community was shaken when a beloved teenager, 16-year-old Breanna Arae Rome, succumbed to injuries suffered in a single-car crash on the frontage road north of town. Those who knew Breanna can’t say enough good things about her, whether about her spirit and enthusiasm, her compassion or her adventurous attitude. “As the radiant, amazing young lady that she was. She was always laughing and giving and sassy,” said Heidi Rome, Breanna’s mother, who added Breanna volunteered in the community from a young age. She was very active in sports and theatre; she worked at her parents store at Ace and knew all of the community; and we wanted to just give back to worthy causes that she would have appreciated,” said Lacie Havener, president of the Breanna Arae Rome Foundation.
