My Take On Style By David Harris | Cinastage

I’m David Harris and this is my take on style. First, let’s take a moment to breathe. Take your time. I like to make getting dressed a ritual rather than a chore. Having a great wardrobe is knowing you’re ready for any opportunity that comes your way. Pour a drink and let’s get started. To me, dressing up is a celebration of life. The beauty of classic menswear is that it doesn’t go out of fashion, a well cut suit with great fabric will always look good. Feeling good in the clothing you wear is not unattainable. Before the suit comes the shirt. I like a shirt made out of crisp smooth cotton. It must certainly have a generous collar and not fit too close to the skin. Now, for the jacket. A hand stitched, fully canvassed jacket, crafted with fine wool is what I wear. I don’t want to feel like I am wearing something, it must flow with my movements and be cut perfectly for me. Putting on a great suit takes away the monotony of everyday life. To me A suit that isn’t comfortable is a failure. A suit should be built for those who move. When it comes to black tie or special occasions, I enjoy a traditional black tuxedo jacket but when I really want to celebrate life, nothing is quite like a velvet smoking jacket. Don’t forget to wear your high waisted trousers. Velvet gives a richness of texture and opens up a colour palette from burgundy to emerald. Don’t forget, smelling great is a form of good manners. And if in doubt, gentlemen, overdress.
