On January 8, 2022, at approximately 2020 hours, I was traveling south on 1-75 near Mt. Paran Road when I observed a white Honda Accord traveling 125 mile per hour in a marked 65 mile per hour speed zone. I activated my emergency equipment and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver accelerated initiating a pursuit. The Honda continued southbound on I-75 driving in a reckless manner. The Honda traveled onto the exit ramp to I-85 Northbound and continued north on I-85. The Honda continued north for several miles, all while speeding and making erratic lane changes. As we began to negotiate the curve on 1-85 North near Lindburgh Dr. we entered into a construction zone. Prior to entering the construction zone there were no signs advising that construction was ahead. On I-85 near Shallowford Road I attempted a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT). After matching speeds and making contact with the right rear side of the Honda Accord using the front left side of my patrol vehicle. Due to the traffic conditions ahead I discontinued the PIT maneuver in order to prevent harm to other motorist. The Honda continued north on I-85 and entered into Gwinnett County. Approximately 1 mile before Jimmy Carter Bivd. the Honda surrendered and came to a stop on the right shoulder of the roadway. TFC Maye maneuvered his patrol car in front of the Honda to prevent any further escape attempts. TFC Maye and TFC George exited their vehicles and drew their firearms ordering the driver out of the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody. The driver was identified as Manuel Alejandro Martinez with a DOB o f /1992. It was determined that Mr. Martinez had a warrant for his arrest originating from City of Lilburn Police Department for various traffic charges. Two minors were passengers in the Honda. These two minors were released to their father. Willard Towing service removed the vehicle from the scene. Mr. Martinez was transported to Fulton County Intake and released to jail staff without incident.
