In 2008, the Lookout Mountain Expansion was built, which included 3 trails and this Doppelmayr-CTEC triple. As is often the case with ORDA, they jumped the gun on the expansion and didn't do any snowmaking upgrades, so the terrain rarely has enough snow on it. Therefore, this lift rarely operates. It only opened for the season two days before this recording. While there are only 3 trails now, there are plans for more in the Unit Management Plan. However they are all expert trails and the still relatively new head of ORDA does not want Whiteface to be an expert's mountain anymore, so I wouldn't hold my breath on it being completed. Unfortunately that means the lift will continue to be greatly underutilized for years to come. The terrain and scenery is great on Lookout Mountain and the lift is one of the most comfortable on the mountain, and I think ORDA management needs to finish the expansion and open it consistently on a full time basis. The lift itself is 4125 feet long with a vertical rise of 1560 feet. Similar to Sunday River's Oz Quad, it is designed to be difficult to load and unload to prevent beginners from using it. Capacity is 1700/hr and design speed 500 feet per minute, but it seemed to be operating much slower during this recording.
