From his latest album 'Andalusian Love Song’ he performed some pieces together with the Marmoucha Orchestra The Israeli/Iraqi Dutchman Darash specializes in Arabic maqam music and has experience in Western jazz, which he combines with neoclassical improvisations. Avishai's style stems from North African traditional music, Western classical music, American jazz, Israeli folk and music from the Levant. Avishai is the artistic director of the Marmoucha Orchestra and that gives him the opportunity to discover different sounds, rhythms and hidden stories. The Marmoucha Orchestra, founded in Amsterdam, consists of inspired musicians with a passion for music and the diversity of musical languages, styles and traditions of North Africa, the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Since 2002, the Marmoucha Foundation has been active as a pioneer in initiating, developing, producing and promoting performing arts such as music and music theatre.
