In this video we are going to show how to change rear differential oil on second generation Lexus IS 250. This gear fluid should be replaced every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. Rear diff fluid change is relatively easy job you just have to locate differential drain and fill plugs. First loosen fill plug because if you cannot release it then you can be stuck with an empty differential. After that remove drain plug and allow for the fluid to completely drain. Tighten drain plug back on and pump new fluid into fill hole until it starts to dribble out. Install fill plug. Also replace both plug washers with new ones and tighten everything back together with appropriate torque. For this vehicle we used SAE 75w90 GL-5 gear oil. Fluid capacity is 1.10 liters or 1.20 US quarts.
