Kingwood Park making their second state tournament trip to Dell Diamond since 2018. The 34-9-1 Panthers hosting 35-3 Grapevine in Round Rock, Texas. Mustangs seeking back to back state titles as Gianni Corral drove in the game's first run with an RBI single 1-0 Grapevine Mustangs as Jarett Boswell scores. Bottom of first now, KIngwood Park pitcher Aden Murray at the plate this little nubber would bring in a run, but at a cost as Murray is shaken up on the play. Game tied at 1. Murray would stay in the ball game. KPark would score again as Nicholas Slonaker bloops this ball to right, a run scores 2-1 Panthers. Top 2nd now, two runners in scoring position as Zach Goldstein bloops this ball to left as the run scores 2-2 game tied as Brady Boozers scores. Boswell steps up again and drives in another run with this base knock to right field 2-1 Mustangs. Grapevine trying to add to their lead but Corrall grounds into a really nicely played double play keeping the score at 4-2. In perhaps the play of the game Miles Stephens lines this ball right back at the pitcher Luke Esquivel who makes the nice grab and the put out at first base to get the runner lead runner at second. 4-2 Mustangs still on top in the bottom off the second inning. Griffen Resendez singles to left to plate two runs to tie the game at 4. It sure seemed like when the Panthers needed an defensive play, they got it in this one. The nice put out at second base to leave the bases juiced. Meanwhile the Kingwood Park Panthers were flashing their own leather. Double play game still tied at 4 in the 3rd inning. Top of the 4th now Grapevine down a run but Corrall would give the Panthers their lead back at 5-4 with this seeing-Eye single on horseback. Grapevine would tie it then increase their lead with some Tom Foolary. Great play Mustangs 5-5 all even in the fourth. Both teams would settle down with a pari of ZERO's on the board. Conner Ray would single in Collin Park for another Liberty Hill run 5-4 Panthers. Double steel was on as Grapevine executed it to perfection. 7-5 Mustangs. Grapevine would add to it with some stellar defense. That double play was close. Conner Ray with the throw from third base. The Mustangs would add some insurance runs with a pair of crazy plays in the top of the 7th inning. One last at bat for KPARK, but the Mustangs were too strong in the end. 9-5 Grapevine wins another state title as the Mustangs making the most of their fourth state appearance.
