#delhipolice #delhicrime #ANTF #crimebranch #ndpsact In a major crackdown on drug trafficking in the Delhi-NCR region, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Crime Branch busted an interstate heroin smuggling racket that was operating under the cover of a “family trip.” A husband-wife duo, along with one receiver, was arrested near the Bhopura Border during a midnight operation. The police recovered a total of 1.504 kilograms of heroin, valued at approximately Rs. 7.5 crore in the international market. The operation began after the police received secret information that a man was transporting a large quantity of heroin from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, and supplying it to Loni (Ghaziabad) and various parts of Delhi. The suspect was identified as Arif Khan, a resident of Naraina Village, Delhi, originally from Loni. It was revealed that Arif used a WagonR car, operating it as a taxi, to transport the contraband. To avoid suspicion, he would travel with his wife, Shikha Ali, creating the appearance of a family journey so that law enforcement agencies would not stop the vehicle. Based on technical surveillance and reconnaissance, the ANTF team laid a trap near the Bhopura Border. Around midnight, a suspicious WagonR car entering Delhi from the Ghaziabad side was intercepted by strategically blocking its movement with two vehicles. Arif Khan and his wife Shikha Ali were found inside the car. During the search, police recovered 303 grams of heroin from their possession. Additionally, 1007 grams of heroin was found inside a bag placed on the back seat of the car. During sustained interrogation, Arif disclosed that he used to procure heroin from a Bareilly-based kingpin and supply it to various contacts in Loni, Ghaziabad, and parts of Delhi. He further revealed that he had delivered 500 grams of heroin on February 7, 2026, to a man named Jumman, a resident of Bhalswa Dairy, Delhi. Acting on this information, the police conducted a raid at Jumman’s residence in J.J. Colony, Bhalswa Dairy. Jumman, aged 32 and working as an electrician, was apprehended from his house. During questioning, he admitted to being involved in the sale and purchase of heroin. Upon conducting a legal search of his residence, police recovered 194 grams of heroin, which was part of the consignment he had received from Arif earlier. Investigations revealed that Jumman used to divide the heroin into small packets (pudiyas) and sell them near the railway line. The trio was part of a well-organized interstate drug supply chain operating between Bareilly and Delhi-NCR. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Police officials stated that the timely action not only prevented heroin worth Rs. 7.5 crore from entering the local market but also dismantled a crucial link in an interstate narcotics network. Further investigation is underway to identify and arrest other associates, including the Bareilly-based supplier.
