BB18 ¼ 1089 - ARHS Steam Train to Richlands - 5.03.2011

Queensland's newest railway line from Darra to Richlands at just 4.5 km's in length, opened on Monday, 17th January 2011. On Saturday, 5th March 2011 the Australian Railway Historical Society charterd a steam train to travel along the new railway line using BB18 ¼ 1089 and the stainless steel SX carriages. After travelling down the main western line as far as Darra the line to Richlands branches off to the left and parallel's the Centenery Highway for a few km's before arriving at the railway station at Richlands. The locomotive is able to run around its train and is able to make the return journey back to the city tender first. The extension of the line to Springfield, a further 9.5 km's, is due for completion in 2013.
