Las Vegas casinos see gaming revenue surge despite summer tourism slump

Despite a summer slump in tourist numbers, Las Vegas casinos have reported a significant increase in gaming revenue, providing a financial cushion for Nevada. In August, gaming revenue on the Strip rose by 5.5%, downtown by over 8%, and the Boulder Strip by nearly 10%. Annmarie Montesano, a resident, stated, " I can relate to going there and spending hundreds of dollars a night, so yeah." Montesano is set to receive a small refund, courtesy of Nevada tax revenue generated by casino earnings. The revenue is accumulated from the money casinos make when visitors lose.
