When people ask why I know so much- this is one reason. I've been through a lot. Not even complete list. 1.Urodynamics testing 2. Three total cystoscopies; two with hydrodistention and capsaicin instillation, one cystoscopy with no sedation or anesthesia. 3. Three bladder instillations with cystistat (hyaluronic acid). 4. Three bladder instillations with heparin/elmiron, one of which was self-administered (self-catheterization). 5. Laparoscopic surgery and endometriosis excision. 6. Three lysis of clitoral adhesions, 2 included keratin pearls removal. Most of the symptoms that led to the above procedures were primarily related to urogenital tissue atrophy from 15 years on oral contraceptives. All the procedures in #6-11 were to treat new right side pain caused by right frenulum tissue damage sustained during the first lysis of adhesions procedure. 7. Three pudendal nerve blocks, 1 transgluteal, 1 transvaginal, 1 dorsal branch. 8. Two excisions of right frenulum tissue, one of which also included surgery to remove a random vaginal inclusion cyst on the left side. 9. Five ketamine infusions. 10. One ganglion of impar block. 11. One pulsed-radio frequency of pudendal nerve. 12. Four rounds of pelvic floor Botox for PN (one was during the TV PN block, one was just to right obturator internus muscle, 2 were in-office and included Levator ani muscles and Ol). 13. Five additional peri-clitoral injections of local anesthetic or anesthetic/steroid. One of these also included dextrose injections. 14. One "scar band" excision that involved making cuts in my right frenulum with scissors to "release" a non-existent scar band. eg None of these things significantly helped or fully removed the visibly demarcated painful tissue of my right clitoral frenulum. This list includes ~34 times I went under a needle/knife hoping to come out on the other side feeling better, and that didn’t happen. Many of the symptoms for which I received these treatments had a cause that was eventually resolved, and/or have a visible source of pain that hasn’t been explained. What does this tell us about the efficacy of Western medicine urogynecological interventions?? For one thing, that there is a giant chasm of emptiness where there should be diagnostic tools. #chronicpelvicpain #sexmed #vulvodynia #vestibulodynia #hormonallymediatedvestibulodynia #pudendalneuralgia #pudendalnerve #clitorodynia #pudendalnervedamage #ischemicinjury #medicalmystery #femalepelvichealth #pelvicmedicine #interstitialcystitis #bladderpainsyndrome #GSM #oralcontraceptives #hormonereduction #hormonalatrophy #lysisofadhesions #endometriosis
