My first cab view film on YouTube! It was filmed in the late 2010s from the leading cab of a Transdev-NordWestBahn Cl. 643 'Talent' DMU on the Paderborn - Bielefeld line. The line is known as "Sennebahn" as it traverses the Senne, an area consisting of grassland and moorland. It is is also known for its large military training area and the British barracks in Sennelager. The video shows the condition of the line in late 2017. The entire line was in the process of being upgraded (rather gradually) for the best part of 20 years. At the time of filming, new platforms were already in place at many stations, two new halts were in use (Schloß Neuhaus and Bielefeld-Senne, both areas which have seen a significant increase in housing). Paderborn Kasseler Tor (the closest stop to Paderborn University) still had a ridiculously low platform (it has since been improved). New German "Ks" signals were in place, having replaced semaphore signals and standard Bundesbahn colour light signals, with the boxes on the core line (excluding Paderborn Hbf and Brackwede) having been replaced by an electronic area signal box in Lage (Lippe). Most importantly, at least for the customers, the line speed was raised from mostly 60 kph to mostly 100 kph (35/60 mph). Trains run longer each day and during the rush hour, there are two trains per hour with some alternating stops. Freight trains, however, are limited to military traffic, the Benteler car parts plant in Schloß Neuhaus and traffic to the goods vehicle maintenance plant in Paderborn Nord (look out for it on the right as the train pulls out of Paderborn Nord). Please note: The video was recorded using a Canon G11 at 480p. The windows were dirty. I still think it's worth uploading and I hope you enjoy watching it! Unfortunately, the camera stopped recoding short of Bielefeld Hauptbahnhof. The sound is muted intentionally for about 70 seconds due to a cab radio call by the signaller.
