May 21, 1991 - By the time Wayne "Tree" Rollins ended up in Detroit, he was 35 years old and nearly a decade removed from his defensive peak. Still, with Bill Laimbeer battling tendinitis and James Edwards finding himself on the bench following an uninspired stretch of play (and a twisted ankle), Rollins had his number called for an extended stretch during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Playing 21 minutes (nearly twice as many as the rest of his postseason run), Rollins fulfilled his role, scoring four points and doling out punishment, committing five fouls, two of which came on moving screens. As of 2019, Rollins is eighth on the NBA's all-time blocks list (2,542). In 1982-83, as a member of the Atlanta Hawks, the 7-foot-1 Rollins led the NBA with 4.3 blocks per game. He played just 43 games in Detroit before bouncing around to Houston to back up Hakeem Olajuwon then onward to Orlando where he finished out his career as a backup to Shaquille O'Neal.
