Tip-80; Immature teratoma of the ovary is the second most common malignant germ cell tumor. It usually presents in young adult females. They present with unilateral, usually large masses with hemorrhage and necrosis. Microscopically, there is immature tissue, mostly in the form of neuroectodermal/neuroepithelial tubules and rosettes, admixed with ectodermal and endodermal tissues of varying maturation. It is important to grade the tumor based on the amount of immature neuro-ectodermal component in the slide. Pure gliomatosis peritonei is considered mature (grade 0), as is the case with mature gliomatosis in the lymph nodes. Although the presence of gliomatosis peritonei and nodal gliomatosis should warrant staging accordingly (FIGO III), the treatment should not be decided according to this stage, as the metastatic component is mature.
