Shane Dawson Won $250,000 for Directing Not Cool (2014) | The Chair Review

Due to the recent cancelation of Shane Dawson, I learned about The Chair, a 2014 reality series in which two first time directors create two different independent movies based off the same script. One movie was Not Cool (2014) by Shane Dawson, and the other movie was Hollidaysburg (2014) by Anna Martemucci. Zachary Quinto hated Not Cool so much that he decided to take his name off of the credits, called the film "a vapid waste of time," and said that he was angry that hundreds of thousands of dollars were put into making something so egregiously offensive. Shane was upset by this because he thought The Chair (2014) would provide a safe space from such criticisms. I knew going into this that Shane Dawson walked away with the win and the $250,000 cash prize, but it hurt more watching the whole thing played out. His competitor, Anna Martemucci, is actually talented. She could have used the money.
