SUBSCRIBE for a new recipe EVERY TUESDAY & FRIDAY: https://bit.ly/2FCgM3q Printable Recipe: https://www.sweetspotbakes.com Beignet Recipe: 3/4 cup warm water(110 Fahrenheit) 2 1/4 tsp(1 packet) active dry yeast 1/3 cup granulated sugar + 1 tbsp 2/3 cup whole milk 1 large egg 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 tsp Kosher salt 4 cups all-purpose flour Unflavored oil(canola, vegetable) to fry Topping: Honey to taste Powdered/confectioners/icing sugar to taste Method: In a medium bowl (I use my stand mixer bowl) combine active dry yeast, warm water, and 1 tbsp of granulated sugar. Let it sit for approximately 10 minutes, you'll notice a raft form on the top. (Layer of larger gas bubbles) Add in the rest of the sugar, egg, melted butter, vanilla, and milk and stir to combine. Now mix in the all-purpose flour and salt with a bread hook. If you're using a mixer let it knead for 3 minutes, but if you're using your hands you'll need to knead for 6 minutes. Grease a large bowl and add the dough to let it rest for at least one hour. Cover with a kitchen towel and place in a warm area. While resting, heat your oil up in a large pot with at least 3-5 inches of depth for the beignets to float in. Bring temperature to 350 Fahrenheit. Roll dough out to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured surface and let sit covered for 5 more minutes. Using a pizza wheel or knife cut beignets into squares or triangles. Fry off for 1 minute on the first side to allow pocket to form. Flip over and let finish frying for another 60-90 seconds. Drain oil and let sit for a couple minutes before covering with honey and powdered sugar. Enjoy!
