This video is about a very unique destination and experience that we ever had. The main reason for us to visit Murmansk was the desire and dream to experience Northern Lights. Northern lights are called as Aurora as well. Tips for a better Northern Lights experience: *Clear skies without cloud cover, fog or dust *Locate away from the city to avoid light pollution *Schedule in the period of polar nights/long nights during winter months *Wear contact lenses if possible in case you use specs (eyeglasses) *Murmansk Northern Lights hunting tours are usually less expensive than Norway and Finland Murmansk is the largest and most populated city in the Arctic circle. There are merely 4 million people living in the entire Arctic circle due to its cold and freezing climate. Murmansk experience a very long and cold winter of freezing temperatures for more than 6 months a year. It was freezing cold as minus 31 degrees Celsius in a day that we spent in Murmansk. In this video, we talk about winter cloth and other tips which are suitable for extreme cold climates like Murmansk. We also visited Lenin Icebreaker which is the first nuclear powered surface ship in the world. Arctic circle comprises of areas which are close to North pole of only 8 countries in the world. Those are the northernmost areas of Russia, Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and Finland. We visited Murmansk which is located near the northern border of Russia. Due to this geographic of Murmansk, the city experiences about 2 months of midnight sun and 40 days of polar nights every year. Northern Lights is a extraordinary phenomenon of mother nature. Northern Lights can be witnessed only in the areas within and close to Arctic circle. The root cause of Northern Lights is very interesting and has a scientific background. The charged particles discharged due to nuclear fusions in the sun travel 150 million km toward the Earth we live. Small amount of these charged particles enter Earth's atmosphere from the two weak points of our planet's magnetic field which are north and south poles. The excitation of Oxygen and Nitrogen atoms in the atmosphere by absorbing the energy of these charged particles and the subsequent stabilisation process emit energy in the form of light. As such, we can see magnificent patterns of various colours of light in the sky during Northern Lights.
