Known for its crescent-shaped beach, it’s an ideal spot for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility. CAMPING Camping on Lazarus Island offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, away from the urban environment of Singapore. Here's what you need to know to plan your camping trip: Camping Permits and Regulations Permits: Overnight camping is permitted only in designated areas on Lazarus Island. To camp, you must apply for a permit through the Singapore Land Authority (SLA). Applications should be submitted at least 14 days before your intended stay. Designated Campsites: There are six designated campsites on Lazarus Island, labeled A through F. Campsite B is currently unavailable due to the presence of glamping tents. Campsites C and D are closest to public toilets but experience more foot traffic, while Campsites E and F offer more privacy but are farther from facilities. Facilities and Amenities Toilets: Modern public toilets are available near the Lazarus ferry dock, approximately a five-minute walk from the campsites. Note that the tap water is non-potable. Food and Water: There are limited food and beverage options on the island. A convenience store, Sol by BDC, operates from Friday to Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm, offering daily essentials and ready-to-eat meals. It's advisable to bring sufficient drinking water and food, especially if visiting on weekdays. You can use portable barbecue pits and gas stoves in the picnic shelters. Ensure you follow all safety guidelines when cooking. Getting There Ferry Services: Regular ferries operate from Marina South Pier to St. John’s Island. From there, Lazarus Island is accessible via a 15 to 20-minute walk over the causeway. Ferry services are provided by companies such as Marina South Ferries and Singapore Island Cruise. Additional Tips Wildlife: Be prepared for occasional encounters with wildlife. Do not feed animals such as monkeys, and store your food securely. Activities: While on the island, you can enjoy activities like swimming, snorkeling, and exploring nature trails. Remember to bring your own equipment, as rental services may not be available.
