The actress, who is in the country to promote the show, paid a courtesy call on President Fidel Ramos and accepted an invitation to the country's centennial celebration in 1998. Thalia, who brought no gifts, kissed the president on the cheek and asked him to sign a copy of the Philippine constitution. Before the meeting, the presidential palace was filled with school children, government employees and even presidential guards wanting to get a glimpse of the Mexican star.
