Harry Johnson's recipe stated that the garnish could be a cherry or an olive with a lemon twist. Obviously I opted for the Maraschino Cherry ( • How to Make Maraschino Cherries (Booz... ), but if you're all about olives, don't let me stop you. This cocktail is heavy on the Chartreuse. It definitely stands out in the drink. It's used in a handful of vintage recipes. The bottle tends to be expensive, so I typically get the smaller version. It will last a long time and not break the bank. The liqueur is a highly-guarded secret recipe made by monks in France. The liqueur was featured in what was arguably Tarantino's worst movie, Death Proof ( • Death Proof (2/10) Movie CLIP - Shots... . The best way to wash the taste of that movie out of your mouth is with a glass of Green Chartreuse or, better yet, a Bijou. Cheers!
