Bijou cocktail made from the original Harry Johnson recipe from 1900. Bijou is the French term for "jewel." Obviously I opted for the Maraschino Cherry (   • How to Make Maraschino Cherries (Booze in ...  ), but if you're all about olives, don't let me stop you. This cocktail is heavy on the Chartreuse. It definitely stands out in the drink. It's used in a handful of vintage recipes. The bottle tends to be expensive, so I typically get the smaller version. It will last a long time and not break the bank. The liqueur is a highly-guarded secret recipe made by monks in France. Only two people know the make up and proportions of the recipe the dates back to the 15th century.
