Emma and Kelly have been part of the Play Team at Northampton General for nearly 20 years. They know just how important play and fresh air are for children in hospital – boosting mental health, supporting physio, and giving families a chance to escape the ward environment. Right now, the hospital’s outdoor play area is uneven, difficult to access, and not suitable for many children, especially those who use wheelchairs. Something as simple as moving a chair up the slope takes multiple staff members and a lot of effort. Children and families deserve better.
