I have been putting off this project for years. It was compounded by the fact that every time I changed the oil, I just cleaned off the oil from the valve covers and didn't think about it further. But now it's to the point of being unmanageable. So I broke down and finally replaced the valve cover gaskets. The work was performed on a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4x4 with the 4.0L V6 SOHC engine. The steps taken can be applied to similar vehicles and engines.
