Well, there are a number of classifications that an employee might fall under. These may include full time, part time, temporary, seasonal. These are all different classifications that you could classify an employee under. It is important that employers have a clear policy drawn out in their employee handbook stating what constitutes full time versus part time. So you may want to put a policy in your handbook stating all employees given thirty five or more hours of work per week is considered full time. Employers have the right to determine what is considered full time and part time within their company, although they do not have the right to determine who is exempt and who is non-exempt. That is regulated by the FLSA and should be consistent throughout the company.
