On July 19 ,2023, Ryan Friedman Motorcars revealed a 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S Flachbau. Video filed by: Long Island Exotic Cars Not only we got to see the reveal of Porsche 964 Flachbau we got to tour Ryan Friedman Motorcars and All Out Ron shows us some of his collection. For those who don’t know what this car is, Porsche had extra chassis of the 964 remaining and gave them to the Sonderwunsch division for a special project. The 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S Flachbau, also known as the Porsche 964 Turbo S Flachbau or simply the Porsche 964 Turbo S Slantnose, is a rare and special variant of the Porsche 911 sports car. The "Flachbau" in its name translates to "flat nose" in German, and it refers to the distinctive front-end design of this particular model. Key features of the 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S Flachbau include: Unique Design: The most prominent feature of the Flachbau is its flat or "slantnose" front end, which differentiates it from the standard Porsche 911 Turbo. The regular rounded headlamps were replaced with pop-up headlights and the front fenders were reshaped to achieve this distinct look. Performance: The Turbo S Flachbau was based on the already powerful Porsche 911 Turbo (964) model. It was powered by a 3.3-liter flat-six engine with an upgraded turbocharger, intercooler, and other enhancements. This resulted in an increased power output of around 385 to 385 horsepower, depending on the specification. Performance Upgrades: The car featured a variety of performance upgrades over the standard 911 Turbo, including larger brakes, revised suspension, and a modified rear spoiler for better aerodynamics and stability at high speeds. Limited Production: The Porsche 911 Turbo S Flachbau was produced in extremely limited numbers. Only a few were made, making it a highly sought-after and collectible Porsche model among enthusiasts. Luxury and Comfort: Despite its performance-oriented nature, the interior of the Turbo S Flachbau was designed with luxury and comfort in mind. High-quality materials, well-appointed seats, and various amenities were included to provide a comfortable driving experience. Collector's Item: Due to its rarity, unique design, and high performance, the 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S Flachbau has become a highly prized collector's item among Porsche enthusiasts and car collectors. Overall, the 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S Flachbau is a rare and special variant of the iconic Porsche 911, known for its distinctive design, enhanced performance, and exclusivity. Its limited production numbers and unique features make it a sought-after model for those who appreciate both the driving experience and the historical significance of Porsche sports cars. They decided to implement a “Flat Nose” or Flachbau deriving from the original ‘89 slant nose and 935 race car. When other customers got wind of this they flipped out and wanted one…well at that point Porsche was tooled up for the 993…but, for certain special customers they produced more Turbo S “Package Cars” as they were called with a regular nose. These 17 were thought to be rarer due to lower production, but a flachbau to me is the rarer one with one off hand crafted fenders…it just does not get better in air cooled world! In total, 76 Turbo S Flachbau coupes were built; 10 X83s were sold to Japan, 27 X84s offered to "Rest of the World" buyers, and 39 examples of the X85 version with flat-nose front ends were sold to the United States. An additional 17 X85s were delivered with standard 964 Turbo fenders, complete with vertical headlights. The American-market Turbo S coupes ordered with the X85 Flachbau option added an additional $60,000 to the Turbo's $99,000 base price. These incorporated 928/968-style retractable but uncovered "flounder" headlamps, standard Turbo sheet-metal, asymmetrical 959-style air intakes on both rear quarter-panels, a special front air splitter, a louvered rear wing that enclosed the intercooler, quadruple exhaust tips, and 18-inch-diameter "Speedline for Porsche" modular light-alloy wheels, 8 inches wide in front and 10 inches in the rear. #porsche #964 #964turbos #turbos #964flachbau #flachbau ##ryanfriedmanmotorcars
