After the rivetting debut full-length last year, "Stone Still Settling", which was one of my absolute favorites in 2022, I'm glad to premiere here today "Betrayal". A new single, which will be included on Wist's 6 track second album, "Strange Balance", to be released on LP via Ixiol Productions in spring of 2024. Following a similar path as their debut, this track presents a beautiful balance of Black Metal with dreamy and ethereal Progressive and Post Rock elements. Creating a form of mid-paced Black Metal, that organically and very inginiously creates a beautiful ballance of tension and release, always with very intricate and great dual guitar work, with some lovely clean arpeggios and leads weaving an ethereal spiral of astral majesty around the dreadful and certainly more negativist rhythm guitar work. Something that still stands out as well is the brilliant synth work, both on subtle details along the track, as on the astonishing outro certainly reminiscing with 70s German electronics, as well as the very present bass and its pungent lines.
