Avington Merino's team tell us about using Numnuts after marking 30 lambs. Like riding a bicycle, it's easy once you get the hang of it! Avington Merino Stud in Victoria where one of the first commercial users of Numnuts in 2019. Avington's farm manager Kyle Cordy gives his first impressions of using the new device. This video was taken after Kyle had had a brief training session from Bendigo Sheep Vets and carried out about 30 applications to get his eye in Avington pride themselves in excellent animal welfare standards, before using Numnuts, their farm vet would give each lamb a shot of local anaesthetic using a needle and syringe. This was slow, and now Numnuts allows them to provide best practice, targeted pain relief at a commercial scale. Avington we the first property to be recognised in Australia, by RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) for their high level of animal welfare. RWS requires that pain relief is used for all painful husbandry procedures.
