Public Urged to Hand In 'Bruni' Firearms During Amnesty

West Yorkshire Police is holding a four-week firearms amnesty for a specific type of Italian made blank-firing weapon which has been deemed illegal. The national amnesty is targeting five models of side or top-venting firearms (TVBFs) manufactured by Bruni. It comes after tests by the National Crime Agency showed they are readily convertible using common household tools and without specialist skill. Under the Firearms Act, that means they are now classified as illegal to possess. The amnesty will take place from today, Monday 2 February, and runs until Friday 27 February.
