The Daisetsuzan National Park is located in Central Hokkaido. The park is the largest in Japan and is approximately 60 km long and 30 km wide. The park is made up of primeval forest and some of the highest mountains and volcanoes in Hokkaido. It snows a lot during the high winter months of December, January and February. The weather in March and April is a little more stable which is conducive to skiing the higher alpine areas of the Daisetsuzan mountains. Sometimes skiing a line is a waiting game. Waiting for the right weather and snow conditions that will make skiing something possible. Everything came together late in the day after the clouds lifted.
