WATCH IN HD PLEASE (+subtitles available) "𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘄 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸… 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱." – 𝗆𝖺𝗍 𝖼𝖺𝗎𝗍𝗁𝗈𝗇 (𝗍𝗁𝖾 𝗌𝗁𝖺𝖽𝗈𝗐 𝗋𝗂𝗌𝗂𝗇𝗀) So uhm… yeah. Honestly, I don't even know what this show is, or what it is trying to be. I don't think the show itself knows. At this point, it feels like a poorly written self-indulgent (Aes Sedai obsessed) fanfiction of an extremely condensed and excluding wikipedia article about Jordan's book series that only sporadically references the actual events of the novels. Literally none of the characters are even remotely behaving the way they're supposed to (except maybe Nynaeve, though I hate how they girlbossified her to make her more appealing or whatever). This isn't adjusting a couple of things as it simply happens when you’re adapting a story from page to screen, this is straight-up disrespectful and ridiculous. I cannot believe how they butchered, sidelined, and erased various characters’ arcs in favor of random new plot lines that a) nobody asked for and b) don't even make any sense or have any sort of meaning within the greater narrative. How they skipped over so many important passages that gave depth to characters. This show is messy and unfocused and muddled and frustrating and disappointing on so many levels. Jordan’s voice is barely even heard, his creation hardly recognizable anymore, and I’m sorry but adding a vision of Mat losing his eye and expecting us to go feral over it and yell "omg foreshadowing !!!" is neither good writing nor does it convince me the showrunners actually care about the books. It’s lazy and it’s embarrassing. I am so tired of this show’s refusal to engage with its source material. This is Shadow and Bone s2 all over again, only this time I actually care because this is a book series that is incredibly dear to me. These are characters that mean the world to me but seeing them on my screen is like watching pale, sickly shadows of their former selves aimlessly sleep-walking around. Watching this show has become excruciating and painful. Sitting down every week and forcing myself through an hour of whateverness became more torturous with every new episode. Not to be that person but the only thing that kept me going throughout this season was Cauthor (cause they truly are my ultimate book OTP alongside Newtmas and Enjoltaire) and the Wonder Girls (but that turned out to be underwhelming AF) as well as the hope that this show might eventually find its footing and actually do the characters justice. s2 may have seemed like an improvement at first but now that all the episodes are out I can say beyond a doubt that this show does not care about its source material. It does not care about the characters and their journeys. It does not care about the dynamics or the conflicts. Adding book quotes almost made me cry because it reminded me of all the high-quality content we will never get to see. Ah well… one more disloyal book adaptation, I guess… •••••• 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐎 •••••• » 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐥𝐞: mat cauthon & rand al'thor » 𝐭𝐯 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰: the wheel of time (+book quotes) » 𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠: • Set Fire to the Rain » 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠: "blackfriars" by @maryxstuart » 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦: final cut pro ••••••••••••••••••• THANKS FOR WATCHING #cauthor #thewheeloftime #twot #matcauthon #randalthor #matandrand #matrimcauthon #wheeloftime #wheeloftimeamazonprime #joshastradowski #donalfinn #fanvidfeed #viddingisart Copyright Disclaimer Under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976, allowance is made for "fair use" for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research.
