Dense fog created hazardous driving conditions across the Sacramento region Saturday night, sharply reducing visibility in neighborhoods including Greenhaven and the Pocket. Drivers reported difficulty seeing the road ahead, sudden stops, and lingering fog throughout the day while traveling between Sacramento, Davis, Folsom, and Elk Grove. The California Highway Patrol warned that rapidly dropping visibility increases the risk of crashes and pointed to a deadly 17-car pileup in Fresno earlier in the day as a reminder of the dangers. CHP advises drivers to avoid unnecessary travel, slow down, turn on headlights instead of high beams, increase following distance, and remain in their lane to reduce risk.
