The game is also open-source.[a] It shares some gameplay features with Dance Dance Revolution, PaRappa the Rapper, and the "Dance Contest" minigame from Club Penguin, and borrows aesthetic influences from Flash games.[5] The game has been credited with driving users back to Newgrounds, a site that rose in popularity in the early 2000s.[6][7][8] The game revolves around the player character, Boyfriend, who must defeat a variety of opponents in singing and rapping contests in order to continue dating his love interest, Girlfriend. Gameplay involves hitting notes with timed inputs while avoiding running out of health for the duration of the song.[9][10] The game was initially created for the Ludum Dare 47 game jam on October 5, 2020.[11] An expanded demo was released on November 1, 2020, with updates continually released in the following months. A full version of the game backed by Kickstarter, titled Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game, is in development.[12] Lacey's Wardobe is the first installment in the Lacey Games series. Lacey has a busy day today! In the morning, she will attend a picnic in the park. Then, in the afternoon, she must go shopping. Finally, she will have a date tonight with the cutest guy! Phew! But there is only one problem: She has no idea what to wear! Can you help Lacey put together the cutest outfits for each situation? The intro to the episode is the title screen for Lacey's Wardrobe, after which the synopsis is given. For a split second, the screen flashes with inverted colors, and the synopsis disappears with only 'help Lacey' remaining before it cuts to the gameplay. First, the player is tasked with picking out an outfit for Lacey's picnic. The player picks a hairstyle, a top, bottoms, shoes, and accessories. The player then presses "ready" and the background changes to a picnic scene with a "well done!" box and a continue button. In the background, a face can be seen. A moment before it cuts to the next sequence, the text "I love you Lacey" appears next to the face. In the next sequence, the player dresses Lacey up to go to the shopping mall. While picking shoes, a call interrupts the gameplay. (Ringing starts at 1:23.) [Heavy Breathing] "Lacey... Lacey, did you see my texts Lacey? I can't wait to meet up Lacey... I want to- have a good time tonight with you, Lacey... Tonight... Bye bye..." After the caller hangs up, Lacey's face appears enlarged and covers the screen, then distorts. Lacey's face then disappears and cuts back to the gameplay sequence, now with heavy breathing and the face from the picnic looking at her from her window. The game begins to glitch out. The player presses "ready" and is met with a "well done!" screen with Lacey at the mall. The game glitches again, and the "well done!" textbox is replaces with "please help", and only Lacey's outfit remains. The screen cuts to black and reads: "He's going to kill me." The player dresses up Lacey, but there is no prompt this time. It's night, and there's a constant knocking in the background. When the player scrolls over to the "tops" section, the bottom right corner box says: "There is a gift on your doorstep." When the player clicks on the box, a red heart box appears. It slowly opens to reveal pixelated, red substances. A call interrupts again. [Heavy Breathing] "Lacey... I'm here... I'm here, did you get my gift Lacey? Do you like it? I'm here, open the door my darling... Open the door... Open the fucking door!" What have you done The caller hangs up, and the player continues to dress Lacey. Red text appears across the screen saying: "Please don't make me go outside. Please. PLEASE." The player clicks "ready", and is met with the usual "well done!" box saying "what have you done" while Lacey is on a dimly lit street. The screen cuts to black, then plays heavy breathing, squishing noises, as well as screaming and crying noises. Lacey's cut up torso, legs, and hand are shown. It cuts to Lacey's stalker with his eyes not visible. The stalker opens his eyes, and text appears, reading: "I ate her remains so we will be together forever. I love you, Lacey." The game cuts back to the title screen, and the episode ends.
