The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank's mission is to mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community. The need in Los Angeles County before the pandemic was significant, with more than 2 million residents of our community needing food assistance. And because of the economic impact of the virus, we are seeing the need dramatically increase, potentially doubling, as we are seeing people who have never needed food assistance in the past, needing the help of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. We are also providing nutritious food for our neighbors in need through emergency distributions, so they can prepare well-balanced meals for themselves and their families. These drive-through distributions augment our agency network by providing large quantities of food to thousands of individuals and families who have been economically impacted by the crisis. Recent distributions range from 1,000 to 7,500 families served per distribution. Because the food bank leverages millions of pounds of donated food, and thousands of volunteers, we can provide enough food for four meals for every dollar donated. With the support of the community, we can accomplish our vision that no one goes hungry in Los Angeles County. Together, #WeFeedLA.
