The Netherlands are changing - VPRO documentary - 2015

"The Netherlands must change" is the position of the teacher and activist Jan Rotmans. The Netherlands must radically change in the areas of sustainable development, education and health. He is looking for innovators, change makers, thinkers and new viewers. He has already found some 250,000 people who follow him in his ideas. There are fundamental changes to be made in the economy and in society, and these changes seem to reinforce each other in the same direction. But to really change the Netherlands, 2.5 million people are needed. How does Jan Rotmans think to bring them together? He is looking for innovators, thinkers and people with new views. Who are these people who want to change the Netherlands and what do they really want to change? In VPRO Backlight we are introduced to a number of these change makers: a green activist from Vriesland, a cleaning company where the managers are themselves the cleaners, and a man who wants to extend a 135-kilometer green climate belt around Amsterdam. All those who play a pioneering role in the transition of the Netherlands, pioneers who are shaking up existing systems and helping to redefine them. The Netherlands are changing, do you want to see how?
