Learning how to shoot large format photography has had its ups and downs, which is to be expected when starting out with a new film format. I have been enjoying the experience of photographing with my Intrepid 4x5 Mk5, and pairing it with sheets of Kodak Ektar 100 for the fall woodland scenes was a perfect match. While I do already see the areas in which I'd like to work harder to improve my skills, I am aware of how this new format is changing me a bit. It sounds cliché to say that film is slowing me down, but in the case of 4x5 photography, that is absolutely true. I find myself studying my subjects much closer, working harder to find the best angle, and putting more thought behind the shot before I take it. And that is by no means a bad thing... in fact, it's quite wonderful. I might not be producing my best work at the moment because I am still learning, but every image brings me one step closer. As always, feel free to check out my Instagram page @jesshobbsphoto for a closer look at today's images! Thanks for watching!
