I'll cover Pete Townshend's rhythm and lead parts, and discuss a bit about the gear he used on it. Pete's style for me is rooted more as an acoustic/rhythm player who takes that acoustic approach and applies it to his electric playing. That WAY oversimplifies it, but there are tons of examples where it seems how you can hear how he wrote a song on an acoustic guitar, developed his chords and strumming patterns, and then carried that over when he added his electric. For me this song is another example of that. The lead on this song is purely rooted in chords/parts of chords and is among my favorite rock guitar solos ever - you don't need to noodle around in blues scales to build an epic solo! Great example of that. Related to this lesson is my lesson spotlighting the intro riff that he does - you can find that here • You Better You Bet - The Who | Guitar Less...
