Sorry this isn't the greatest video - it was a spur of the moment thing as I wasn't exactly expecting to find one of these in the wild and all I had was my phone. It's also angled down and in portrait mode as to not give away the location of the plant as it is located on private land, which was quite restricting! :) This is the critically endangered Mimetes Stokoei, otherwise known as the Mace Pagoda. A member of the Protea family, its range and population are so small it has twice been presumed extinct due to fynbos fires in Kogel Bay. Filmed in March 2020 on private land not too far from the original population outside Kleinmond, Western Cape, South Africa. This is one of three plants, and is the most mature.
