Exploring Blue Run of Dunnellon Park

Hiking and exploring some of the nature trails at Blue Run of Dunnellon Park along the Rainbow River and Withlacoochee River. There is a paved trail along with nature trails and lots of recreational activities to take part in on the rivers here. Besides taking in the surrounding nature, there is also some interesting history to learn about along the way. History such as the phosphate mining boom in this area at one time and a lot of information on the Cross Florida Barge Canal that almost was constructed which would've divided the state into two. This would've had a devastating impact on the environment and wildlife of this state so thankfully the project was stopped. The old railroad line here once crossed the Withlacoochee River. Today a paved trail and nice bridge leads you over the area at the park. Enjoy and thank you for watching.
