Walk through the preps for a complex dental procedure on an older rescue mare, our very kind Cassie (AMHA, Aquarian Star Vision), who was diagnosed with Equine Odontoclastic Tooth Resorption and Hypercementosis (EOTRH). Over the winter, it's gotten worse, and it's uncomfortable enough that she's finding it harder to eat. We’re documenting the extraction of (at least) five of Cassie's incisors, the only real "cure" for EOTRH. Our goal is to improve her comfort and quality of life so she can continue a long, happy, healthy retirement after years of hard work. Her retirement includes being Snip's best friend. ❤️ If you’re caring for an older horse, especially a rescue, know the warning signs of EOTRH (no, that horse doesn't have a "cute smile") and realize that dental health is incredibly important. Early detection by a licensed veterinarian makes all the difference. Also, please check out the other videos in this series, covering Support, Diagnosis and Recovery. ❤️ Thanks for supporting rescue horses and following Cassie's journey.
